Our $0-down PPA and lease options are for eligible Duke Energy customers. There's no equipment to buy — the solar provider installs and maintains the system, and you pay an agreed rate for the solar energy it produces, often lower and more predictable than your utility bill. It's a popular way eligible Triangle-area homeowners go solar with no upfront cost.
With a PPA you pay an agreed rate for the solar energy the system produces. With a lease you pay a fixed monthly amount for the equipment. Both are $0 down, include maintenance, and are offered to eligible Duke Energy customers. If you buy with cash or a loan, you own the system and may qualify for any incentives that apply to your project. Our participating program can provide qualified residential and commercial customers up to 35% off the starting system price, applied upfront to reduce what you pay. It isn't limited to Duke Energy territory — it's available to qualifying customers on many utilities where the program is offered, and it can be combined with a cash purchase or financing. Availability, eligibility, and the discount amount vary. It is not a government rebate or tax credit.
